ITEMS FROM HISTORIC VIRGINIA CITY NEVADA
Shortly after World War II, several of my relatives were tasked with the job of demolishing several structures on the Comstock load. It was obvious my family hated to throw anything away, so they were more than happy to store many of the items including wood beams and floors, plumbing, brass, copper, artwork, fixtures, and doorknobs, etc. for more than 80 years. Slowly as I visit these warehouses, I will be bringing out items and listing them here. All items are antique, somewhat historical in nature and have come from Virginia City Nevada home of the Comstock load.
Virginia City is famous for the large silver discoveries that were found there bringing many miners, families, and merchants back in the 1800s. President Abraham Lincoln was so impressed with the amount of silver that came from Virginia City that they made Nevada a State very quickly, the silver bounty could be used to pay for the Civil War.
One of the many luminaries famous for living in Virginia City was Mark Twain the famous American author.
